5th - 11th August 2020
7 day fly / fly tour
This tour combines the relaxed tropical ambience of the Townsville region with the spectacular beauty of the Whitsunday Islands. We will enjoy 3 nights at Townsville and 3 nights at Airlie Beach.
Townsville is the ‘Capital’ of Northern Australia and at the centre of a vibrant region yet it still retains a laid back and welcoming appeal. There is a wonderful array of attractions in the district which we will explore at a leisurely pace during our stay.
Bordered by the Great Barrier Reef and cradled by the calm waters of the Coral Sea, The Whitsunday Islands lie midway along the Queensland coast. They form the largest offshore island chain on Australia’s coast and without doubt one of the most stunningly beautiful in the world.
Airlie Beach is the gateway to the Whitsundays. A Colourful cosmopolitan and inviting town on the shores of a palm fringed beach overlooking the sparkling waters of Pioneer Bay.
May to September in the Whitsundays sees a lot of humpback whale activity with the waters being important calving grounds, so we will be on the lookout on our drive north along this amazing coastline. We will pass lush rainforest clad mountains, sugar cane fields and mango plantations and travel through the townships of Bowen and Ayer which both suffered the ferocity of cyclone Debbie but are desperate to welcome visitors back into the region.
