3 day tour

Mudgee, aboriginal for ‘nest in the hills’, is a beautiful town and great destination for a short break.   Our journey takes us over the Blue Mountains which are always a picture in Spring and home through Merriwa, Denman and the Hunter Valley.   Our accommodation is 4 star at the Quality Parklands Resort  (Ph 6372 4500), set on 15 hectares of gardens and pasture land, where we will enjoy its friendly country hospitality and excellent facilities.

The town and surrounding districts are rich in history and we will have Jenny Tidey, an enthusiastic local, sharing Mudgee’s heritage as well as bringing us up to date with more recent developments.   A flourishing wine industry has seen the town expand in recent years, however Mudgee has retained its character with settlement here dating back to the 1820s and its ‘golden’ past remains very evident.   Surrounded by rich grazing country and a diversity of agriculture and horticulture, all framed by stunning National Parks, the district has become famous for its hospitality. One of the many features of the tour will be our visit to the fascinating gold towns of Hill End and Sofala.

Highlights include:-

  • Mount Tomah & the Bells Line of Road
  • Hill End, Sofala and Rylston
  • Mandurah Studio Craft Centre
  • Guided tour of Mudgee
  • Historic Gulgong - the Ten Dollar Town
  • Blue Wren and Pieter Van Gent Vineyards
  • “Songs from the Bush” at Gulgong Opera House
  • Mudgee Honey Haven
  • Henry Lawson Centre
  • Merriwa and Denman
  • Hunter Valley and Pokolbin

Cost per person is $695.00 and includes accommodation, all meals (morning teas, fully cooked breakfasts, delicious lunches and dinners) and admissions.  Single supplement $140.00.
